Entoptic
Entoptic is a collaborative project that beautifully merges two of my greatest passions: dance and design. Over the course of three semesters, I had the privilege of contributing to Kait Schnorbus' photography thesis as a movement director and choreographer, shaping the dynamic expression of her work. Spending months in the studio with a talented team, we developed a project that explores the entoptic phenomenon through still images and a short film.
In the fall of 2024, I took the reins to design a book that served as both a conclusion to the scientific research behind Entoptic and a showcase of the final creations we had developed together over the previous year. This project reflects the seamless integration of motion, imagery, and thoughtful design to tell a compelling, multidisciplinary story.

How it all started
I was connected to Kait through a mutual professor of ours, Sam Fritch. We met up and she explained to me her fantastic and outlandish vision she was building for her Photography Thesis. We hashed out ideas, explored moodboards, and began discussing the role I could play in her project. We decided that with my skillsets as a Dancer and Designer that I’d best serve as a Choreographer and Movement Director.
Getting on Set
Nervous and excited, we began exploring in the studio. Our first test day was just me and Kait literally and figuratively throwing stuff at the wall. Since I was still working on finding someone to be the dancer for the real shoot, I got in front of the camera while Kait worked on all the nitty gritty technical bits of her photography.
After some time our team grew. I recruited one of my well-trusted dance friends, Leyla Marusa, and Kait brought in her friends from. Being able to step into my role instead of being on camera allowed me to refine the movements that achieved the best results. By our final shoot day we had a list of movements to call out to Leyla after all of our time practicing. But of course, with the nature of the project, new results were found through happy accidents.
